Total MLA Expenses
This page contains the total spending for every MLA that has been reported up to the present - as more reports come out, these numbers will be updated to reflect them. If you'd like to see more details, click the "Learn More" button to see a breakdown of spending by category and year. For MLAs who were elected to the 29th Assembly (2015-2019) we include their spending from that term as well as the current one.
The spending recorded here comes from the expense disclosure reports that MLAs are required to fill out every quarter, as well as records provided annually by the government that record MLA salaries and expenses incurred by the MLA in their role as Minister, if they were one.
Currently, all expenses for the 2015-2019 term for returning MLAs that are recorded for the purposes of this site are included; however, the annual report on MLA salaries, benefits, and Minister expenses has not yet been released, and so the numbers for re-elected MLAs are not final yet. Those numbers will be included shortly; however, for now, know that the average annual amount included in this category is approximately $150,000 a year for a backbencher with no positions that come with a bonus, so expect the number for each of these MLAs to go up by at least $150,000, and some by significantly more.
